This is because we believe that ice cream should be made without artificial or synthetic additives designed to extend the ice cream’s shelf-life, slow the melt or give it colour. We use only nature’s own ingredients. Dairy ice creamAll of our dairy ice cream is made from Jersey cream and locally-produced milk. The list of ingredients is short and easy to understand: milk, cream, sugar, honey and eggs. Just like home-made ice cream. SorbetThere is nothing artificial in our sorbet – just lots of fruits, berries and spices. The sugar content of our sorbets is lower than in traditional Italian ice cream. This is because we use sun-ripened fruits and berries, and because we think a sorbet should taste of what it is – iced fruits and berries. Note that our sorbets contain egg white. SherbetSherbet is a variant of sorbet, but with a small amount of dairy added. This gives the sherbet a more rounded taste, without making it as rich as full dairy ice cream. Sherbet is very popular in the USA, and until the 1970s was known and loved by all children on Bornholm in a single cherry-chocolate variant. At Svaneke we make various sherbets according to the American tradition.
Ice cream soda, milkshake, slush-ice, iced coffee, frappéAt the Svaneke dairy and ice cream parlour we serve a wide range of iced desserts. Ice cream soda is the American classic made with fizzy mineral water, syrup and heaps of dairy ice cream. Iced coffee and frappé are a delicious mix of dairy ice cream with filter coffee or espresso. Find your own favourite in our ice cream parlour! Soft iceAfter many trials and experiments, we are now proud to be able to offer soft ice – perhaps the first in the world made without any artificial additives. We make soft ice with new and different flavours in a changing range. Our soft ice is also served as a topping on our ice creams/sorbets. Look up recipes and serving suggestions on our ices blog (in Danish). Allergy informationGluten (coeliac disease): None of our ice creams contains gluten. Nuts: None of the sorbets contains hazelnuts unless specifically indicated. Our dairy ice cream may contain traces of hazelnut. Please check with the ice cream dairy. Egg: Sorbet contains pasteurized egg white, and dairy ice cream contains pasteurized whole egg. Lactose: Our sorbets contain no lactose, but all of our dairy ice cream is made from milk and cream with a normal lactose content.
